OGS Donations Background/History

Prior to the redevelopment of the OGS website in 2018, various ad hoc efforts collected funds to purchase books which were donated to the Olympia branch of the Timberland Regional Library as memorials to deceased OGS members. No compilation of these ad hoc efforts and the resulting memorials is known to exist.

 

The on-line membership join/renewal features implemented on the OGS website in 2018 include a donation option, but this feature supports only an “unrestricted” donation, i.e., it does not allow for donations for memorials or other “restricted” donations, and it is only accessible at the time someone joins OGS or annually renews their OGS membership.

 

In about September 2020 a custom feature for on-line donations was added to the OGS homepage which is accessible by any visitor at any time. This supplemented the donation option in the membership join/renewal feature. Until April 2023 the donation feature on the homepage included only two optional selections: General Purpose and the Gary Foote Memorial. In April 2023, the optional selections were expanded to include memorials for eight other OGS members who have died since 2018.
